When you said, “It is finished,”
What did you mean?

Were you referring to
Our hope?
You were supposed to
Be the one who wiped out evil,
But it sure looks like
Evil won.

Our sin?
It makes no sense how
You dying
Accomplishes that.

Or were you
Just talking about 
Your life?
I don’t understand
That, either—
God’s not supposed
To die.

Good Friday doesn’t seem
To be going so well.
We lost. You died.
And death is the end
Of everything.

Isn’t it?
